This week, I sabotaged myself.
My saboteur announced, “Two weeks of not writing has been a lot of fun so this week I am going to put my feet up and not write again.” So that’s what I did. I used any excuse I could find so that I wouldn't have to write. I surfed the net, I went out, I watched TV and, in a last ditch effort to waste more time, I even cleaned.
You know that saying: "You are your own worst enemy"? That’s what I had become. I was the only one stopping myself from writing because I didn’t want to focus. I didn’t want to sit down and “work”.
Then the weekend came around and something inside of me snapped. I felt like my Sunday check in for ROW80 was my deadline. I had 4200 words to achieve and, on top of that, I had 7100 words to catch up on. So I told my saboteur to get lost and began writing like there was no tomorrow.
And write I did. Guys, I wrote 4300 words this week! I surpassed my weekly goal by 100 words. Seriously, if I can do it I know all you awesome ROW80 participants can do it too. Never give up, guys!
Now, please bear with me as I go through some technicalities. My goals for the new week will be the same - 4200 words - and to catch up on the 7100 words that I am behind on. However, the number has slightly decreased to 7000 words now.
Good luck with your goals everyone!
Good for you! I've been dealing with my own saboteur this week, but I'm still working on ridding myself of it. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gabrielle! I think it's funny how quickly you usually write and as soon as ROW comes around you're behind. Just goes to show how distracting our saboteaurs can be :(
ReplyDeleteI hope you do better this week!
Congrats on getting back to writing. Best of luck next week!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you met your goal and got "Snapped" it happens. You can't force it (at least I don't believe you can) You need to be able to write with emotion and purpose otherwise it is just flat! Congrats on meeting your goal!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome Komal. Sometimes it's that little spark of inspiration that gets us off the couch and in the seat. Stick with it, and good luck this week.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Some days the inner saboteur is going to win, other days you're going to give it a quick kick in the rear. Which you proved by not only meeting your goal but getting beyond it. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThat's an impressive word count. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys! I hope I can keep this up!
ReplyDelete@rainingink - Don't be afraid to show that saboteur who's boss!
Keep going Komal! I, like you, feel the deadline approaching as if the headless horseman is running me down. But, that feeling translates into motivation, so I boldly look over my shoulder each week....just waiting for the horseman to come a galloping my way. Ha! ~ Nadja
ReplyDeleteNadja, your description sent me into panic. Then I realised it's only Day One so I relaxed a litte *eye twitch*
ReplyDeletewell done you - beat the little devil - you sure wiped the smile of his face!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Congrats on pulling yourself out of your writing funk and getting so much written! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! ^^
ReplyDeleteThat is some serious word count. Wow! Congratulations on your progress!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vicki! I'm trying to get back into a routine since I took such a long break.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting. You're always so wonderful with your comments! I plan on posting the cover for Vampire Dreams later tonight, and you did read correctly: I plan on self-publishing it in June.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful night!
